Hi all! I'm new to this forum and would like to share my current project: A 1978 Porsche 911 that I'm slowly turning into a replica of an 1973 911RS. Since I live in Hawaii, early Porsche body parts are non-existent so everything has to be shipped, so the cost escalates accordingly. Any way on with the pics
Here's how she looked when I first got her. very rough, but it ran well.

The wheels that came on it were mismatched 15" on the front and 16" on the rear so I moved the 16x7" wheels to the front and had a set of 16x9.5" made for the rear. This involved me finding and sending a set of 16x6" donor wheels to Trudesign wheel in Colorado, where they cut the centers out and dropped them into new 9.5" wide barrels and welded them.

Now on to the ugly, I had to find out what was under the filler and it wasn't pleasant

you can see how thick the filler was here

patch panel welded in. I was teaching myself to weld as I was working on this car using a borrowed mig

Some more surgery as I started on the passenger side as the rust in the door jamb was just as bad as the drivers side. I had to drill out over 118 spot welds to remove the outer rocker, fortunately, the inner was in great shape.
new outer fitted

Had to order two early fenders from two separate sources and one didn't fit so well. Apparently, the vendor had repaired but not fitted the part to a car before shipping so the bottom kind of stuck out.

After calling the vendor I received a credit for the shipping($350!!!) and had to repair the panel myself, which means I had to butcher my late fenders for the needed section
offending area removed

Looks good! Be sure to use a "good" seam sealer on the back side of all your seams and a moisture resistant filler to seal the face of each seam.

Thanks Len! i have been using all metal over the welded areas as well as Por15 on the exposed backside. I also plan to undercoat anything that sees moisture under the chassis.
pic of the other bumper I'll be using. This one I had to narrow 1.5" to make it fit. I really hate working with fg:(
