My Truck has been shot with PPG, JP285, 2K Urethane Surfacer and wet sanded. This morning I was offered a tremendous deal to use Martin Senour Crossfire Base/Clear, rather than PPG Base/Clear.

I called Martin Senour Tech Support to ask about compatibility issues between the JP285 2K Urethane Surfacer and the Crossfire Base. Their answer was "We have no Idea, we dont test between competitive products"

Has any one shot Crossfire base on JP-285 Surfacer with no problems ? My gut feeling is that the catalyzed JP-285 will not have a problem with Crossfire Base but I dont want to play Jr Chemist.

Thanks
Paul

I don't use either of those products but, if I were in your situation, I would shoot a test panel then test the adhesion. After priming, sanding and painting I'd polish the test panel and apply a good 2" tape to the surface and pull it off quickly to test for adhesion. I'd say if the paint stays on the surface you're good to go.

I dont see a problem spraying MS base over PPG 2K primer. Just dont do things like reduce MS base with PPG reducer or use PPG activator in MS primer etc.
With that said, crossfire is maybe a step above Duplicolor

Thanks Guys;

Sometime a great deak is not worth it. Based on the unknowns and my lack of experience, I will finish the job with PPG Base/Clear as I have shot on my other trucks.
