rookie paint question

When mixing paint/reducer/hardener and/or primer sealer/reducer should all product be put through the cone strainer or just the paint and/or primer sealer?

I strain all of it Just to be on the safe side.I also remove that funky strainer in the gun.

I mix the chemicals than pour the mix through the strainer into the gun's cup. I also remove the strainer from the gun.
