Yeah the stuff is a mess but i'm done with that now, and on to my grinding disc. And then my sandblaster to get the rust out. Should be a fun project.

Well the GS project got put on hold since the customer had to buy a bunch of parts. So hopefully it will be back in the shop soon, not this coming week but the week after.
So since there is no work, because it's dead around here, I brought my wagon in to pass the time. My daily driver.....
Here's a before shot:

A question for you if you don't mind. I noticed on the driver side quarter that there is surface rust present on the inner structure up behind the qtr patch you installed. How will you address this? Won't this continue to rust from the inside out over time? Not criticizing, just wondering what you do.

Well since the car is still in limbo none of that work has been done yet. Nothing is welded on yet. I always sandblast and epoxy all rusted areas. I will post pix's of what I do once the customer gives me the go ahead to start again.

I figured you'd do that with the exposed areas and I see you only cut out what was necessary to make the repair. What I was wondering about was the surface rust that appears to run up around the wheel well and behind the repair. How you go about addressing these areas on repairs like this?
I like your wagon. On first glance I was thinking it was really clean and that you had just polished and detailed it. On my second look I see that you removed the woodgrain vinyl and two-toned it. Looks great! What did you do about the trim? Lets see some more pics.

Oh I really can't do anything other than once the car is done go back in and spray an oily based product up behind the panel via the trunk.
As for my Wagon I will start another thread.

Well I ran into some major issues with this convertible and it set the customer into a bit of a loop, so the vehicle got set aside for quite some time.
Now that I am back to work on it this is what I have been doing the past month.
The driver rear quarter had to come off due to the fact that this car was rear ended and everything was out of whack plus they brazed on the quarter so I welded it back on.
The rear trunk panel had to be replaced as well,...... as you will see why in the photos.
The problems showed themselves when I got a new trunk lid, the trunk lid was overlaping the quarter panel as shown below.
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e360/1967bigdaddy/HPIM4170.jpg
But just prior to that I noticed the damage to the rear trunk panle and lower trunk extension, tha car has been rear ended and not straigthened properly.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e360/1967bigdaddy/HPIM4150.jpg
Due to the damage of the rear trunk panel I choose to replace it with a nice used one in hopes that that would correct my problem.

Here's a shot of it with the quarter panel off, along with some trouble spots found behind it.
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e360/1967bigdaddy/HPIM4185.jpg
I needed that measurment so I could see how far off it really was, and it was off bigtime and the owner had even put a new trunk floor section in on that side which only made it worst because his welds were holding it back.

After many hours of pulling and pounding this is what the rear tail panel looked like, I was very happy to get it to this point:

Once I seen how rusted the wheel arch was I cut it out and replaced it with good solid piece's off of a 4 door.
Now all these piece since they are off of a donor quarter,
they all had to be drilled and taken apart so I could put them on the car as individual piece's. (I hate drilling spot welds)

This same exact thing was done to the driverside before welding the quarter back on, I just didn't take pix's of it or forgot cause I was to busy.
