Thanks for the kind words guys. This car belongs to the father of a kid who used to prep for us.They did a frame off restoration and all the bodywork at their garage at home. They asked if I would go over it and paint it for them. When I got the car at my home shop it was in primer.I blocked it out with 150,fixed some problem areas, reprimed the whole car, then wet blocked with 500 wet.I used lesonal sb base coat and sikkens HS+ clear on this one.The car is not perfect by no means but they got what they paid for.
88GT could you post some pics,I am a big fan of skylarks and I enjoy looking at your work.cheers!

You don't have my permission to use my pictures. If you are so talented use your own pictures.
Oh stop your belly aching. My work is just as straight and I'm not taking credit for your paintwork, which is nice. Not like I'm conveying a skill I can't deliver on, and fyi it's the painters from craigslist I compete with and THEY exagerate and take on bodywork they can't do. I'm the guy they call to do it right.
Have a sense of humor about it. It's just CL and also take it as a compliment. I have no money and need to do work. Classic cars is what pays me but I don't get to take pics
of the finish on all of them cause they're either sold or the guy lives a ways away in the bay or stockton, etc.

Just because you don't have money is no excuse to steal pictures of someone else's work. This is Jason's art work that you are copying. You should immediately remove the pictures from CL.

swallow your pride Jayson and look at the other pics. If you look at them and say I can't make it as straight your smoking crack
Whatever though. I'll take it off so you can enjoy your notoriety.

You have no excuse for using someone elses art to sell your skills. So YOU SHOULD GET OVER IT and apologize for making a stupid mistake or just keep your mouth shut. Don't blame Jason for your stupidity. Take your own pictures or get permission before you use pictures that belong to someone else.

It was CRAIGSLIST and it's not a business ad. It's sidework!
It's not a big deal to me unless Jayson is saying this car is going to the mags or plaques are made or I can't make it as straight. I'm not even taking credit for HIS work as I clearly state I DO BODYWORK!!!!!!
I think Jayson was the same guy saying "I wouldn't do that for that much" so no I'm not apologizing. making a big deal out of nothing
Everybody I know would have had a sense of humor about it.

A bad situation would be that "hot&spicy" got a picture that you took and used it to sell their service. I won't tell your wife. :shhh:

This autumn gold is a nice color. I just did a 70 nova the same exact color with the same black rally stripes. Rally stripes don't belong on the nova but the guy wanted them anyway to mimic his chevelle.
I actually have a Lesonal SB system in my shop, I made a pint of color and I don't know if one of the toners was off on my machine or what..but I had an original sample and it wasn't close enough for the owners satisfaction. I ended up spraying it in Diamont.
Anyways, nice job. You say he got what he payed for...you used Sikkens HS+ clear...what do the well-paying customers get?? their car sent to Germany and sprayed by a machine?

Re-read the post smart ass, they did most of the work themselves. All I did was go over it and make it a nice driver, not a showcar and that is what I was paid for,do you still paint in the shop with out a booth;)

I don't know if this was in response to my post or not. There was no pun intended toward you or your quality of work. You made the comment they got what they payed for meaning they didn't pay much, so I was joking around because you said you used HS+ clear which is very expensive. All I was saying is...if the cheap customers get Sikkens products, what do the customers who pay an arm and a leg get?

Man... you guys are hardcore. :nono: Makes a newbie like me afraid to post!:0
Seriously, I just wanted to comment on the awesome looking paint on the Chebby. That is the same scheme I'm considering for my '72 Cutlass, though I'm looking for more of a mettalic gold(some flakes maybe?). As I've never painted a car before, I will order the DVD mentioned above plus anything else you guys feel will be helpful.
I'd love to be able to just drop it off at a shop and have it done for me, but #1) I can't afford it, and #2) I wouldn't get the satisfaction of doing it myself. When I bought this car I could do only basic maintenance but since then I've redone the front/rear suspension, swapped the original 2bbl carb and intake for a 4, and will soon swap the front drums for discs. In other words, I'm learning as I go. Thanks for any help.
And sorry for jacking this thread!

And sorry for jacking this thread!
Hay, don’t be sorry, that’s what these threads are here for. Sometimes an old thread inspires a new question or comment when someone sees it for the first time. As long as your post is somewhat on topic you won’t have a problem.
