Hello All,
Well my rims are finally too ugly to continue this way. I know having them re dipped is out, cost, and always like these rims on my truck... So how do i go about painting them??? The chrome in the pic came right off with my hand... Any help is appreciated!!!!
Thanks
Patrick
If you're going to paint them then you'll need to remove all the loose material and give the surface some texture for the primer to bite. All of this is usually done using a sandblaster.

HOK or PPG makes a chrome paint they boast of......
I got a flyer in the mail but I can't find it.
Real expensive stuff by the quart. ....
alot higher than metallic wheel paint.
The pictures looked impressive, in the past I've not been impressed
by others claiming chrome-like finishes.
Oh well have a good night I'm calling it.
Later,
Tim

Thanks guys...The sandblaster i have access to is pretty heavy duty, runs off a tow behind 185CRM IR comp,. Do i have to worry about damaging the rims at all? Should i use sand or something else and once i blast away should i use a etching primer? I think that's all the info i need..
Thanks,
Patrick

That will work great and you shouldn't have any problems damaging things because you're not blasting thin sheet metal. I would probably remove the tires so that you can blast around the edge then prime the edge and reinstall the tire but don't set the bead until after the painting is finished. This allows you to get the tire on without damaging new paint AND allows you to paint around the lip so it looks good after you pop the bead.
