Just bought a new compressor and the outlet is half-inch. However, I have already used three-quarter pipe for the shop. Is this alright or should i stay with all half-inch? thanks!!

3/4" is better than 1/2" and 1" is better than 3/4".

I agree with Phil in that the bigger the pipe the better.
But I read here somewhere you can get away with using the smaller diameter piping if the runs aren't long and the simultaneous demand isn't great.

You know, what you can get away with and what's best aren't always the same thing. ;o) The extra diameter pipe also provides more reserve capacity and more consistent flow.

Just use a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter and have fun. My whole shop is 3/4 inch pipe and it has worked just fine for many years. Mooch

are both correct so have at it.
I don't understand how you only have 1/2" coming from the tank of the compressor. What size tank is it? Henry
