Hey everyone! I would appreciate your help!

I'm replacing the left skin on my truck bed. Problem is, When I put the new skin in, the 3 layers of sheet-metal for the spot welds on the inside where the tail-lights are at, have too big a gap for re-welding them.

My teacher was talking about something to put in the spot weld holes to join the 3 layers closer so we can re-weld them. But, I'm not really sure what it was he said, so if anyone knows, please help!

You need to pull it all together, clamps, screws, something to get them tight to weld.

Are you plug welding them with a MIG or are you spot welding them with a resistance welder?

Eh, thanks for the help. But none of that would have done it. I have to bring all 3 layers together. But the layers are not accessible from the inside! My teacher told me today what he was talking about... They were self tapping screws. I had to use an underlying piece of sheet metal between the skin. I ended up cutting too big a gap on accident. That would end up making me with one hell of a deal to seam a skin together. But anyways, back to my point. All I'll have to do now, is screw in a few of them and the skins will suck in together. Then I'll be able to weld with yes, a mig welder, and weld a plug in all the drill holes. I love welding. So looks like tomorrow will be fun!
