2nd day here and more info than my brain can process all at once. Question, I have the Devilbiss finishline 3 kit with a 1.3, 1.5, 1.8, and 2.2 tip and regulator. I am planning on painting my 79 vette in the next few weeks after stripping and fixing the body from the advice I've recieved in other threads. What tip size should I use for epoxy Primer?? 2K urethane Primer?? Base Coat and Clear coat?? I will be using all OMNI products with Exception to the base coat. I am going to buy PPG base on the advice of other members here. Also how do you set the FINISHLINE 3 up so you know you have the correct amount of fluid flow, air pressure and fan width??? Any help here or a detailed explanation will help. Also the gun is brand new and the bulletin that came with it says to flush it becasue it has oil for shipping in the gun. HOW DO I FLUSH IT AND WITH WHAT??? Thanks DAN

To flush it just pour in a little lacquer thinner and shake it up then spray it though the gun using a series of short bursts. I'd use about two ounces of thinner and do this process twice. Spray about half of the material each time then dump the rest.

I'm not familiar with PPG epoxy primer but it can probably be sprayed using a 1.5 tip with the fan fully open and the air inlet pressure set at 30 PSI with the trigger pulled. You want to have the material flow almost fully open, I'd recommend that you back the knob out until the trigger is against the handle then turn it in until it lifts the trigger off the handle slightly. You should be good to go.

Dlittle,
I haven't used the omni epoxy or the 2k primer, but if they're similar to DP and K36, I use a 1.6 for them. So the 1.5 might be OK, you might have to slow your gun speed down a little, if not, move up to the 1.8. As for the base and clear, my PPG rep recommends a 1.3
